-Slowly, Ex-President Trump XCI's Nazi-cribbing weekend is getting various degrees of attention in its wake. The Biden campaign released a statement noting how Trump's multiple-time use of the term "vermin" is directly cribbing from Third Reich rhetoric directed against Jews - and on Veterans' Day, no less. Republican National Committee Chair echoed virtually all Republican Congressmembers by basically ignoring Trump's statement and reiterating the party will support Trump "if" he is the nominee (no duh!). And an unnamed spokesperson seemed to send a mixed message when he told the New York Times' Peter Baker that any Nazi reference from the Trump campaign - apparently including the actual candidate - would "be crushed when President Trump returns to the White House."
-Where that crushing might come may be a little less clear, as new reports indicate Trump's Truth Social social media site lost another $78 million, and is reportedly again in deep financial danger. This may be okay to Trump as it is known Elon Musk would love to have him on his increasingly pay-to-post, don't-worry-about-fact checking microblogging site formerly known as Twitter. Musk's affection for the 2020 Presidential loser is well-known, and he could be hoping a return to the site that banned Trump for his ALLEGED (eyeroll) use of the site to help create the January 6 insurrection could do for "X" what Howard Stern did for satellite radio.
-Speaking of the insurrection, newly-released video testimony from recently-flipped indictee-turned-witness Jenna Ellis re-enforces the perception that there's trouble for Trump in the state of GA. The testimony had Ellis telling prosecutors she was directly told by Trump aide Dan Scavino that "the boss (Trump, of course) is not likely to leave (the White House and Presidency) under any circumstances. We are just going to stay in power." When Ellis pointed out that "it doesn't quite work that way," Scavino's reported response was "We don't care." If others corroborate the statement, including and especially Scavino, well ... (and yes, we KNOW Trump has found ways to slither away from such predicaments in the past - I'm just letting you know what she said and others said in response).
-Legal experts were thoroughly unimpressed with a first-ever "code of ethics" written and endorsed by all nine Supreme Court members after months of withering criticism and investigative news reports revealing hobnobbing and acceptance of hundreds of thousands of dollars of gifts, including vacations and interest-free forgiven loans and contributions and jobs to significant others by individuals with cases and interests before the Court. The primary issue with the code, per these critics, is a lack of any kind of enforcement mechanism or external check on anything Justices may do in response to or in violation of any potential violation of the code. The criticism echoes Andrew Jackson's response to a Supreme Court ruling regarding Indian territories that Jackson infamously ignored in order to create the Trail of Tears: "(Chief Justice) John Marshall has made his decision - now let him enforce it."
-With three days or so before another Government shutdown, Congressional Democrats are reportedly "warming" to the two-step funding proposal offered by new House Speaker Mike Johnson (R, Jay-EE-zuz!, LA) that is receiving universal panning from Johnson's UltraMAGA majority. You may recall that this is exactly what happened with previous SINO Speaker Kevin McCarthy, and McCarthy's work with Democrats for previous continuing resolution lost him the gavel. There is belief that at least right now Johnson would not be in danger of losing his office if he cuts a short-term deal with Democrats - but the rule that would allow a quick vote on his job is still in place, so this remains to be seen.
-As for McCarthy, he is letting his bitterness start to leak out. Earlier in the week he admitted in an interview he was not over losing his job, and attacked his main attacker, newly-minted UltraMAGA Kingmaker Rep. Matt Gaetz (Hey GiRl, FL) (you may wretch now), promising again to reveal info he says may harm or Gaetz' career. And just this morning, he apparently had a literal physical run-in with fellow Republican Rep. Tim Burchett (TN), who claimed McCarthy walked next to him and gave Burchett "a clean shot to the kidneys" with his elbow. Burchett went on to complain about the "bully" McCarthy was with the same whiny privilege perfected by University of Michigan football coach and known cheating d-bag John Harbaugh.
-YEAH I SAID IT! PROVE ME WRONG!!
-Lest you think the testosterone is just flowing in the House today, THIS JUST IN: OK Senator Markwayne Mullin lived up to his first name by reading criticism of him by testifying Teamsters President Sean O'Brien, then challenging O'Brien to "end it now" - and O'Brien agreeing to throw down. Mullin stood up and started to remove his wedding ring to apparently begin a fight, only to be stopped by the chair of the Committee, 81-year-old Sen. Bernie Sanders, who had to remind Mullin that he was a Senator.
-And when you have Bernie Sanders stopping a fight in the world's most deliberative body, you end your news update because THAT WILL NOT BE TOPPED.
