INTERNATIONAL EAR CARE DAY UPDATES
Notice How We Never Ask Kids To Wash Behind The Ears Anymore? WHY!?!?
-If it's a day that ends in a "-y," it's a day where Ex-President Trump (R-apist) XCI has again displayed the kind of behavior that, if he were someone you cared about, you would seek immediate help for. While at a campaign appearance in Virginia, he first noted that he thought a Taliban leader calling him "your Highness" was "interesting," then again talked about Barack Obama as if he was the current President of the United States (while amplifying his BFF Vladimir Putin's nuclear saber-rattling), vowed to end federal funding of schools that require any kind of vaccinations in order to allow kids to attend (at a time when measels are starting to re-emerge thanks to Trump/MAGA-driven suspicion of vaccines and science), and finally genuinely silenced a truncated crowd (which had to be moved to a curtained corner of a modest arena to make it appear to be a 2016-era Trump rally) with this actual quote that can easily be found on social media:
-"We are a nation that just recently heard that Saudi Arabia and Russia ... will re-re-rebedoing - AAAAHHHHhhhh ... will be reducing ..."
-It is not likely you will be hearing about that on this morning's Sunday talk shows, though there is buzz about Nikki Haley claiming she will "no longer feel bound by the Republican National Committee" to endorse Trump once she runs out of money and loses the delegate count to Trump, which is likely by Super Tuesday this week. Which makes some sense given Trump is moving loyalists and family (Lara, who married failson Eric "Eric" Trump, apparently of her own volition) into leadership and that the RNC will continue its 2020 platform of, quite literally, "Whatever Dear Leader Trump Says - Now Give Him Your Money!"
-Also, it is likely a few of the talkers will label the past week Trump's Best Week Ever, with the Supreme Court delay in ruling on Trump's claim of ultra-immunity and yesterday's New York Times poll that, based on 980 land line and cellular telephone call respondents, claimed Trump is now at a best-ever 48% over President Biden, getting there (according to this poll) by Trump both doubling his support from black voters (because like other blacks he's been arrested and has a mug shot - just ask Trump himself) and that, because of his championing of appointing judges that ended Roe and are working to end in-vitro fertilization and has support within his party to criminalize birth control and end no-fault divorce, because of that record, the latest New York Times poll claims Trump is now leading Biden among women voters. (That NYT poll also has Dean Phillips - who has never finished with more than 3% of the vote anywhere his name has appeared - getting 12% support, FYI.)
-And just for good measure, SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE put their fingers on the pulse of the zeitgeist yesterday by opening with an edgy out-there sketch that pointed out that ... you ready? ... BIDEN B OLD!
-When you begin to pine for the days of Charles Rocket and Melanie Hutsell ...
-As for Trump's "best week ever," no question the court appearances have been better for the most part, though to put it mildly, Trump is far from being out of the woods. In the FL case involving the stealing and concealment of top-secret-and-beyond documents, Trumpette Judge Aileen Cannon appeared likely to (of course) slough off Special Prosecutor Jack Smith's request for a June start to what is expected to be a relatively quick trial - though she was told by Smith that the trial would not need to hold to the so-called "60-day rule" the Department of Justice uses to not release indictments of politicians 60 days before an election (because in this case the indictment has happened and court proceedings have begun).
-And in the Fulton County GA case involving the attempt by Trump and company to steal the 2020 electoral votes Joe Biden won, the judge hearing an attempt to remove D.A. Fani Willis from the case heard closing arguments and promised a decision "within the next two weeks." The challenge involved Willis' now-ended relationship with a prosecutor currently on the case, and while most observers agree there was no evidence presented to indicate the assignment was a result of some kind of animus towards or financial benefit as a result of the case assignment (and that the entire hearing was often an uncomfortable and likely racist examination of the sex lives of successful black professionals), the fact that the "appearance of impropriety" might be in play, not to mention any decision made by one person is somewhat difficult to gauge.
-Trump has finally stuck his stubby excuse of manhood into the case by invoking the relationship with a vulgar hand gesture and insisting there is no way any black person could pay anything in cash except that the cash HAD to have come from something illegal.) Because Trump is a sexist racist stupid pig - and sometimes the obvious just has to be said ...
-As the United State began air-dropping aid packages into Gaza yesterday, there are reports that a cease-fire agreement could be reached if Israel agrees to a deal HAMAS has reportedly indicated approval for. Such agreements have been dashed in the past at the last minute by both sides, but with the situation within the country at horrific levels and continued defiance by Benjamin Netanyahu to let up on a war that has already reportedly killed over 300,000 people - the vast majority of which are Palestinian - the world increasingly cries for humanitarian help and some way to end the violence while trying to find justice and peace for all parties. (Sigh.)
-Even though #CovidIsNotOver, the CDC has issued new guidance that waives the five-day isolation period it recommended for anyone who tests positive for it. The new guidance simply recommends that you do with Covid what most do with the common cold or seasonal flu: "isolation until symptoms improve - which could be longer or shorter than five days." The CDC also recommends anyone over 65 and with more vulnerabilities should schedule another booster shot after six months to maintain the ability to fight the virus should it be contracted.
-Ending with Endorsement News, and an endorsement we will all find thoroughly unsurprising and likely happy for us: Trump has again, indeed, endorsed Lauren Boebert to stay in Congress in a different district than she has been representing. Trump generally only endorses in races that appear to 95% certain to win - but when he loses (and the Boebs, whose eldest son is currently is jail for being part of a crime ring that included robbing a woman with brain cancer and who made a sex tape with one of his co-defendants) (no word on if that is the son that is also the baby daddy to a 15-year-old to make the 37-year-old Boebert a grandmother) (and who is running on trying to stop what she calls "the BIDEN CRIME FAMILY"), he loses spectactularly.
-Which should then make the editors of the New York Times have a sad!
